To the Reader.

Honorable Reader, I do not doubt that in this my faithful endeavor, I shall receive both thanks and unthanks, praise and dishonor, which are all the same to me. Nonetheless, I am not deterred from helping to bring the writings of the highly enlightened (in the light of nature) and glorious philosopher Theophrastus Paracelsus to light, even though some envious sophists (who claim to follow Theophrastus) will be ungrateful to me. By doing this, they demonstrate their opposition, as they would rather suppress and obscure the Monarchy of Medicine than promote it. This is why Theophrastus did not publish his writings, and similarly, doctors Adam von Bodenstein and Toxytes sought to do this only for the welfare of all Germany. With this intention, I have dedicated my efforts and hope, if God spares me, to translate more of his works and advance them in print, as much as possible for me.
