De sanctis
Printing History, Manuscripts. Not printed before Gantenbein. Two manuscripts.
Editions. Edited by Gantenbein in Neue Paracelsus-Edition 1: 541–545, 843–845
Relationship between different versions. Only one version known.
Structure, genre/form, perspective, style.
Relationship to other texts. In both manuscripts, De sanctis is – together with an explication of psalms 149 and 150, otherwise unknown – appended to the authentic De venerandis sanctis.
Authenticity, authorship. According to Gantenbein “doubts must be raised as to its authenticity since the uncritical and affirmative approach to the veneration of the saints is rather untypical for Paracelsus.” Otherwise De sanctis may only be one of the early theological writings of Paracelsus.
Time of writing. Further study required.
