Relationship to other texts.

Authenticity, authorship. Wolfgang Kappler (1493–1567) is a well-known personality. The question whether the dialogue contains any reliable facts is controversial, especially whether there has ever been a personal encounter between Kapler and Paracelsus. – According to Telle, the author is Matthias Koch (d. 1579), Kappler’s son-in-law.

Time of writing. The manuscript was copied by Karl Widemann in Augsburg in 1595. He received the text from Johann Vogler in Strasbourg. Probably written in the 1570s.
