Fontanus (T. Massonius): Dem in Br. Nr. 4 (Ende Dezember 1591) gemeinten, „vor kurzem“ verstorbenen F., Sohn des Predigers der französischen Gemeinde von London, begegnete Croll in Frankreich. Es handelt sich bei ihm zweifellos um den 1588/89 in der Basler Matrikel eingetragenen, 1589 in Basel zum Dr. med. promovierten „Timothaeus Massonius, Fontanus Aurelianensis“, Sohn des „Robert Le Maçon dit De La Fontaine“ (Massonius Fontanus), 1535–1611, der, vorher Prediger in Orléans, seit 1580 die Londoner Flüchtlingsgemeinde der Protestanten leitete.
