I. Basic information


Printing History, Manuscripts. First printed in 1623 as a work of Guido Magnus de Monte, edited by Hermannus Condeesyanus [i.e. Johannes Rhenanus]. Five manuscripts, some of them anonymous, some attributed to Guido Magnus de Monte.

Editions. Not edited by Huser or Sudhoff.

Relationship between different versions. Further study required.

Relationship to other texts.

Authenticity, authorship. Identified by Broszinski as the work printed in 1623 under the title Tesaurus [sic] chymiatricus, ascribed to “Guido Magnus de Monte.” The New Haven manuscript is explicitly attributed to this author in the explicit.

Time of writing. Possibly written in the 1610s.
