Zu Lebzeiten muß Gromo jedoch eine gewisse Bekanntheit erlangt haben, die sich in gelegentlichen Erwähnungen in neulateinischen Dichtungen niederschlug. Er hinterließ ein Manuskript „Gromida, cioè cose di Giacomo Antonio Gromo, tra le quali dichiara il modo da ordinare un Essercito prestamente et facilmente“. Johann Geßler erhielt von Benedictus Figulus die „Secreta secretissima medicinae spagyricae“ von Gromo, und in einer von Figulus angelegten Rezeptsammlung finden sich zahlreiche mit Gromos Namen verknüpfte Texte. | |||
