Soldanus, David: Als „David Soldanus Francomontanus“ (also aus Frankenberg) Hessus“ wurde S. mit seinem Bruder (?), dem Magister Johannes Soldanus, im Januar 1588 an der Universität Padua in die „Matricula Nationis Germanicae artistarum“ eingeschrieben und dort am 2. Dezember 1594 zum Dr. med. promoviert (vgl. Rossetti, S. 72 bzw. Favaro, S. 48); vorher studierte S. am Marburger „Pädagogium“ (1579) und in Tübingen (immatrikuliert am 30. September 1585): Falckenheiner (1904), S. 154; Matr. Tübingen, Bd. 1, S. 638.
Croll wurde 1589 als Landsmann (und alter Bekannter?) von S. in Padua gastfreundlich aufgenommen.
