| Crollius1998=161-162$<i>Bauhinus, Caspar (Gaspard)</i> (1560–1624): B. studierte u. a. in Basel, Padua, Montpellier und Paris; 1581 wurde er in Basel zum Dr. med. promoviert, übernahm in seiner Heimatstadt zunächst die Professur für griechische Sprache (1582), dann (1589) den Lehrstuhl für Botanik und Medizin. Vor allem durch seine botanologischen Forschungen (<i>Phytopinax</i>, 1596; <i>Pinax theatri botanici</i>, 1623) und durch die Publikation eines ‘Anatomischen Theaters’ (<i>Theatrum anatomicum</i>, 1605) machte er sich einen berühmten Namen. </br> Croll sandte – wohl auf der Durchreise durch Basel – zwei Briefe an B. (1591 bzw. 1593, hier Nr. 3 und 7), in denen er, von Mömpelgard/Montbéliard kommend, an B. auch die Grüße von dessen Bruder * Johannes B. ausrichtet. | |||
